Armenian Fest in Watertown

Lamb & Losh at Armenian Fest

Okay, I’m taking a break from my sandwich kick to write a quick post about the 52nd Armenian Bazaar which took place last weekend at the Armenian Cultural & Educational Center in Watertown.

The fest took place on Friday and Saturday.  We made it just before they stopped serving food on Saturday.  Luckily, right when we got there, we headed for the  Soujouk sign.  We thought that we were getting soujouk that was ready to be eaten, but, to our surprise, we got something much better.  The soujouk that they were selling weighed a few pounds, was in a muslin bag, and was ready for us to finish the curing process by hanging in our fridge for a few weeks. We got the last one that they had ($25). I’ll post an update in a few weeks after we try it.

Next, we got our ticket for the food.  As those of you who frequent fests like this one, you know that the food is almost always delicious, but that it is hardly ever a bargain.  Since we spent most of our cash on the soujouk, we decided to split one plate.  We got a combination of Losh and Lamb ($13).  I’ve never had Losh before. It is burger like, made from ground lamb (I think), and is packed full of spices and parsley.  It was quite good, but the lamb was the best thing on the plate.  It was cooked to perfection.

We also got Pakhlava ($1.25), Bourma ($1.25), and Cream Khadaif ($2.25) for dessert.  The Pakhlava was our favorite.

Verdict: This was my first time at this event. I’ll definitely be back next year.

P.S. Not the most exciting video (and not very good quality either), but it is an eatanddestroy first. If people like it, I might start posting more small food video clips in the future.
