For some reason, I’ve been craving an Italian sub lately. I don’t know why because the only sub that I like is a Banh Mi. So, during my lunch break at work, I decided to to check out Salem Italian Food on Moody Street in Waltham. This place has a good selection of deli items, pasteries, groceries, and other Italian goods.
I went for their Italian Sub ($4.99). It was a bargain…packed full of different kinds of meat, plenty of cheese, and tasty hot peppers.

Verdict: Delicious!!!

I was feeling sick so PK picked me up after work. For some reason, I was craving a corned beef sandwich. I have only had one corned beef sandwich since I moved to Boston almost ten years ago, and that was at S&S. I was disappointed since their corned beef was just mediocre and the sandwich was tiny. Since people seem to rave about S&S, I just assumed that it was the best in the area. However, I remembered reading about Michael’s Deli on Chowhound. Since Michael’s Deli is close to my work, we stopped in and got a corned beef sandwich on rye bread with horseradish ($6.45) and a bowl of chicken soup ($3.50). The sandwich was great and was packed full of corned beef. The soup, on the other hand, was just average.
Verdict: We both enjoyed the sandwich and plan on going back. If anyone knows a place with a better corned beef sandwich in the area, please let me know.
