yucca - eat and destroyCesaria - eat and destroyCesaria - eat and destroyCesaria

After reading this post on Chowhound, I have been wanting to go to Restaurante Cesaria. PK and I tried to go there once, but, unfortunately, we went on a Monday and they were closed. However, on Saturday, when eight of us wanted to meet up for dinner, I got my chance to try Restaurante Cesaria. This time, I called in the afternoon to make a reservation for that night.

We started off with two bottles of wine (Grao Vasco Dao at $12 and Quinta dos Grilos at $13) and two appetizers (Mandioca Frita at $7 and Polvo Grelhado at $6.50).The Mandioca Frita consisted of fried yucca wedges with a mustard dipping sauce. This appetizer was the only disappointment of the night since the yucca was dry and there were only about 6 or 7 small wedges on the plate. On the other hand, the Polvo Grelhado (grilled octopus) was delicious. The two bottles of wine were good for the price .

Before our main course arrived, we ordered another bottle of Quinta dos Grilos and a bottle of Frei JoAo DOC Bairrada ($14.25). Then, I had the Cartuniz/Cordorniz (deep fried quails served with rice and french fries; $9.50), PK had the Polvo Grelhado (grilled octopus with rice, potato, and salad; $10.50), three friends ordered the Cabitada (stewed goat with potatoes, mandioca, and rice; $8.50), one person ordered the Camarão a Moçambique (shrimp in a spicy white wine, lemon, and crushed pepper sauce with rice and potatoes; $12), and our least adventurous friend ordered the Frango com Queijo Parmesan (Chicken Parmesan; $8.50).

Verdict: Everything that we ordered was delicious (even the chicken parm). My favorite was PK’s octopus (which was tastier than the octopus appetizer), next was my quail, and my third favorite was the goat. Restaurante Cesaria is a great place to go with a large group of friends or with just one or two other people. To my knowledge, there are very few other places in the Boston area where one can go out with eight people, eat delicious food, drink four bottles of wine, and hear live music for about $25 per person. I cannot wait to eat here again soon.
