Alex’s Chimis
Whenever I go to the Behan, I always find it difficult not to stop in La Papusa. This is why it took me way too long to try Alex’s Chimis. The restaurant is brightly lit and simply consists of a few tables, a small counter, and a food warmer packed with delicious looking chicken, pork, sausage, plantains, a few potato filled patties, and quite a bit more. There is no menu or listed prices so we just ordered a half chicken, some deep fried pork, and one of the flat potato filled patties. The guy packed our container full of food (about $15). We put tons of hot sauce on the dish and took it to the Behan.
The chicken was tasty, but not very moist. The crispy fried pork was fantastic. After eating way more than either of us should have, and still having quite a bit of on our plate, we were relieved when a few friends showed up to eat the last of our food.
Verdict: When going to the Behan, I will now be faced with a dilemma- will I get food from Papusa or Alex’s Chimis.
