Galway House

June 14th, 2006

A few days ago, PK and I were craving beer and grease. We were too lazy to drive to Grumpy Whites in Quincy so we decided to give S & K a call and meet them at the Galway House.

Between us, we ordered a total of 8 pints of Bass or Sam Adams, an order of Revere Beach Onion Rings ($2.95), the Famous Buffalo Wings ($4.95), and the Golden Fried Potato Skins ($3.95).

Surprisingly, all the greasy food was quite good despite their ridiculous names. The onion rings were fantastic, and I will be coming back to the Galway just for them. The buffalo wings were better than many that I have had in Boston, and they are the best that I have had in JP. The potato skins were just above average, but I think that they are now also the best in JP (because James’s Gate took them off their menu, which still pisses me off).

Verdict: When everyone at your table can drink 2 pints each and eat tons of tasty greasy food for about $12 per person (and we did leave a good tip), I really cannot say anything bad about the Galway House.

The Galway House is one of the things I miss most about living in JP. Your post makes me nostalgic!

I am also a fan of the Galway House. It’s right there in the middle of Centre St. and yet it’s sort of a secret. Friday night is seafood night, too. Check it out!

Thanks for the reminder. I’ve only eaten there once, and I always forget how good it was!
